The other is from Turkey, and they're trying to exploit this to take more control that the Iranians previously had over the various tribes that both countries share.
Apparently, the ships passing through the straight recently were done as a sign that whoever Trump (led by JD) is working with does have actual power. That is possibly a different faction than the one in Tehran. Remember the population down along the coast and where oil exports leave from is more Arab than Persian.
The Saudi's and Israelis are both pushing to keep the campaign going past the 6 week mark. The Saudi's want to eliminate Iranian control over the red sea. The Jews just want constant chaos and prefer Iran to disintegrate into various tribes and factions fighting indefinitely. They're pushing the Kurds and whatever the other minority groups in the country are doing.
Edit: the end goal is to actually remove sanctions on Iranian oil and have their product sold at market value in dollars. That fucks china the most. Ongoing sanctions have allowed China to buy Persian oil at a discount. The US is trying to make it so that Russia is the only source of discounted energy for the Chinese. Then the goal is to wind down the war in eastern Europe, with plans to ultimately get the Russians to begin selling oil in dollars again as well. |
