Have been searching far and wide for Asheville 20 years ago, etc. I think today I found it. A southern town, confederate town, but with mountains and nature, not swamp.
Enough libs to lend the main street good coffee and other faggotries, but still vastly outnumbered. No more than 15% black (and in the south!).
Anyway, the answer may be Staunton VA.
Walked up and down the main street almost in disbelief. There was a piano pushed out onto the sidewalk and a group of white teens stood around taking turns playing like Coldplay songs and whatever they knew.
A skinny lib chick with big honkers and tattoos gave my kid a sticker for his skateboard.
A group of pedestrians hovered outside a fancy restaurant listening to a blue grassy string band playing inside.
The hotel had 8 rooms.
Main street features active, in-business: clock repair store, musical instrument store, ice cream parlor (owner operated), pizzaria (owner operated), etc etc.
Kind of a lib hippie vibe around, but quietly.
Again, Asheville or Athens maybe decades ago.
As we walked back to our car, we passed a public parking garage. A rock band was inside, practicing.
I felt a spanish explorer landing on the shores of 1995 or something

Staunton sucks. There is literally nothing to do here except go out to eat. The mall is and has been a joke for years. The only decent stores are Walmart and Tj Maxx. Homes are ridiculously overpriced. Schools are ok but have terrible communication with parents and don’t post anything important on social media. Gypsy Hill Park is the only good thing about this town, and is also the only form of entertainment for kids.

lol.
That poaster screams transplant from mid-tier city.
"There's nothing to DO. Raleigh had a great ballet."
Fact is, there's nothing to "do" on earth. I used to teach high school in MFH, in the 90s. My teen students, who would be dismissed out into 1990s east village, bitched and moaned there was nothing to do.
One must stare boredom in its stupid face until it explodes.

GYSPY Hill Park?! Problematic!!
seriously though it looks great but you're going to need WFH, it's an occupational wasteland. nothing but low end government, healthcare, and walmart. and decent houses are 4-500.
