the AD is going absolutely ballistic, embarrassing himself and the university, because the ACC Network played the ND-Miami game on repeat all weak to push for Miami.
But the ACC leadership doesn't control the programming on that channel, ESPN does. ESPN, who owns the tv rights to the playoff, the ACC, and the SEC (including the conference championship game which would be threatened if the loser got left out). Obviously ESPN doesn't care about ACC football, but they need to keep the conference alive so they can play Duke bball highlights 24/7 from mid January through April. They pulled off the perfect shell game to sneak a shitty Bama team up in the rankings after a 'tough' win against coachless Auburn, just in time to make the whole narrative ND vs Miami.
