half of xo called for shutdowns in march 2020, leading to $11 trillion being printed. theres a post about this. most of them later faded into ashamed silence about it or actively lied about their position
it taught me a lot about humanity and so-called "men"

cr this just isn't discussed enough. interest rates were steady and rising. boom covid, instantly back to 0% and printing trillions. the biden inflation and high interest now is the DIRECT result of all that imo.

Lol, that reminds me of one of the funniest examples of this. During the pandemkc I was dating this shitlib who was in a band, and she'd have these weekly virtual band meetings with the other shitlib members.
Onr week when Texas was about to reopen this faggot blowhard was going off about how they were about to commit a literal genocide which would result in the deaths of billions. The next week the Floyd protests started, and they went out to the city nuts to butts crowded and were justifying it as OK because they wore bandanas to mask up.
Just completely incoherent hypocrisy and they were all just so fucking smug about it.

The bort was into the fraud by the end of Feb, give or take. But that was not yet definitive and with all of the bullshit going around at the time, caution through the end of March 2020 was reasonable.
Failure to immediately call total flaem on the largest fraud in modern history is not a moral failure. Also, prepperthreading was fun.
Anyone supporting lockdowns into April and beyond was indeed a fool.

I think many people ITT and on XO would agree that "two weeks" would have only been effective if done around mid-February 2020 at the absolute latest. Literally before the "virus" had any ability to spread beyond the very first cases.
Anything after that was a jerkoff to look like the government was "doing something."

I'm not trying to police what you poast on xoxo (we all know your POV anyway) or even single you out for contributing to the crank zeitgeist (I have no idea how vocal you were IRL).
I'm just pointing out that if we're going to parse out blame for who contributed to the slippery slope of COVID policies, the cranks should accept some blame too. When people see one side is calling it a fake virus invented by the Rothschilds that reduces the credibility the anti-lockdownmos.
I'm sure you believe what you say and think its virtuous to say unpopular things despite the consequences. And I agree. But there are consequences, which includes giving lockdown supporters a strawman to dismiss any all opposed to lockdowns as conspiracy cranks.

"When people see one side is calling it a fake virus invented by the Rothschilds that reduces the credibility the anti-lockdownmos." yes, this is a rhetorical point - "what do you have to say to influence retarded normies and not turn them off?" - and i don't entirely disagree with you here. but convincing normies was and has never been my intent
i'm pretty quiet and friendly irl, even if very intense looking, although introverted because conversation taxes me. i told people i was against lockdowns and COVID vaccines but didn't try pushing it on people except close family/friends on the latter, but not aggressively. my outlet for my actual thoughts is Online, not irl, otherwise i would be a social pariah
the worst part of COVID to me, by far, was dealing with my shitlib wife

All very reasonable.
I'm just sensitive to being accused (not saying you're doing this) of supporting a limited initial response as tantamount to supporting all of it. Hardline radicals contributed too, just like how insane bluehaired shitlibs wind up hurting their own cause.
I was a very vocal anti-lockdown, anti-PPPmo. I also flagrantly violated lockdown nonsense and endured plenty of angry shitlibs demanding I mask up. That's about the most I could've done on an individual level.
I will say I would be much more hesitant to support reasonable response in the future after experiencing the hysteria it led to, and would oppose the two weeks then if I knew what I know now.

when faced with a new disease, you'd want the government to look into three questions:
1. what is it?
2. how bad is it?
3. what should we do about it?
on all three Fauci commandeered the government response and willfully answered the questions falsely.

cr.
a Stanford schoalar, John Ioannidis, looked at early clusters and basically nailed the final death rate. he got crucified for being correct.
when the WHO was talking 3%, Trump said he suspected the final rate would be much much lower -- and Trump got crucified for it.
there's an interesting parallel with Fauci's work on AIDS where he labored to make it seem like a disease where heteros were at huge risk (when the risk was for needle users and gay men). with COVID, Fauci tried to hide the fact that COVID was a big threat only to the elderly and people who were immuno-compromised.

seven states never had lockdowns. three states ended their lockdowns in late April. but even when lockdowns ended, many states had very restrictive rules for a long time. and it was at the very end of April that The Atlantic accused Georgia of "human sacrifice" for ending its lockdowns.
so it's not really accurate to suggest that all the restrictions were gone by summer. quite the contrary.
Gavin Newsom's infamous dinner at the French Laundry was in November 2020.

it's interesting. his comment, being so inaccurate, made me poke around about who kept the longest, dumbest restrictions. it was Dem states, to no one's surprise: CA, NM, IL, VA, etc.
the states that had had bans and lifted them quickly were, not surprisingly, the GOP politicians in Texas, Florida, and Georgia.

Here's what almost everyone forgets - the lockdowns made complete sense, and Trump did an amazing job.
We were projected to have over-run hospitals, ventilator shortages, no PPE, etc.
The country locked down, Trump turned the Javits center in a hospital, brought in huge ships to offer hospital beds, found 10x more ventilators than anyone every thought possible.
And then - COVID never came - and libs just got this stupid idea that we could lock down indefinitely - even though the only soluiton we ever had was for everyone just fucking get COVID until it got so week it was NBD - which is what happened with omicron.
Because of that insane policy people forget the original plan and the fact that Trump did actually rise to the occasion - the occassion just never really came (plus ventilators actually just killed people whoops).
