Would sports be better if they had different "maps" and "metas" like esports?

what if some nba games were played on courts where each side had 2 hoops (placed 6 feet away from each other). or what if the 2 hoops on each side were placed across the court from each other (so there wouldn't be a hoop in the center on each short edge, but instead 2 hoops across from each other on the long edges)
or what if some games were played under rules where only 2 players on each side were allowed to shoot 3 pointers. or a game where any shot that counts as a score must be immediately preceded by an assist.
part of what makes esports interesting is the changing variables on each map - each best of 7 involves different maps that use different strategies. what if we tried to add this to real sports?

One of the wilder ideas in the book is letting teams drop the 3-point line wherever they want.
I think that would bring some diversity back to the league in a cool way. People have both told me that’s a great idea and a terrible idea.
