Verne Troyer was about 55 lb, so alcohol hit him much harder than it would hit a normal-size adult. But reports said he arrived at the hospital with a blood alcohol level above 300 mg/dL, i.e. roughly 0.30% BAC—a level that can be fatal, especially in a small person or someone medically fragile. The L.A. County coroner ruled his death suicide from sequelae of alcohol intoxication. The AP/Chicago Sun-Times report also says he later died of multiple organ failure and notes the 55-lb body weight and BAC above 300 mg/dL.

Very rough drink math: for a 55-lb male, one standard beer might raise BAC something like 0.04–0.06% before metabolism. To get near 0.30%, you are more in the zone of 5–8+ standard drinks in a short period, maybe more or less depending on time, tolerance, food, liver function, medications, and illness

why do they think it was suicide and not just him losing track of how many drinks he'd had after like 4? hell I lose track after 6 or so

Does this mean that like a case of beer can be fatal for a Normal Bro? It doesn’t seem like it…

He struggled with depression. Also ODing on booze accidentally is very rare outside of inexperienced drinkers binging.

Haven't heard of those close to him contesting that it was suicide. Which leads me to think there's more indicia of suicide that they, understandably, are choosing not to release to the public.

but how rare is it for people who can die from 5 drinks? that's my point. I might lose track after 6 but it's gonna take me way more than that to die lol

You're looking at this from the POV of an ordinary sized person. If you are 3x the size of Verne this would be like saying it's easy to loss track after 15 so maybe drinking 45 was an accident. Also he was a long term alcoholic. Unlike stuff like heroin it is very difficult for someone to accidentally fatally OD on alcohol, which is why you hardly ever hear about it despite how common binge drinking alcoholics are.

yeah maybe. the more convincing part is what you said about the family not contesting it. also, when it comes to ODs of any kind, the line between accident and suicide is kinda blurry. you're being reckless with your life either way.

Yeah. Ultimately most suicides cannot be proven conclusively unless there was a note or something. It's impossible to say for certain whether someone that OD'd did it on purpose. But the default is to say they "died suddenly", so when suicide is listed explictly there is usually very convincing evidence which, understandably, isn't going to be released just to sate the publics curiosity.
