I am seeing $2,000+ a month in insurance premiums on nice homes. I'd rather put it in the market and take that risk. And if in year 10 a hurricane destroys your place you have a bunch of money for a new place.

i see your point, but they say the rebuild cost of a house is $250-300/SF for an average build, for a 3000 SF house, that's $750K-900K. seems dumb to take that risk
