These people will put up with a lot of challenges you and I would never face. But the one thing they hate doing is a job. Some people are just absolutely allergic to selling their labor for wages like the plague. But in terms of the effort it takes to survive on very little money, benzo probably does work harder than a low level Target employee. He just applies himself in woefully inefficient ways. It's not always how much work you do but how productive you are in a capitalist system. Benzo's problem is that he's inefficient, not lazy. I'm sure it's way harder to live the way he does than it is to be a greeter at Wal-Mart. He just doesn't apply that effort in a maximally productive and efficient way because something about clocking in bugs him and makes him hate his life.
