My god, where has the summer gone! I think I got here like 77 nights ago and it feels like I just checked in. I say it every year, but this has been the most 1800000 summer ever. Can't believe only 8 nights left :(

I’m not leaving because I don’t have $ to stay longer. The season has an end point. By Aug 3-10th the crowd changes and it’s just done. Pretty much Mid-May to early to mid-Aug is all we get.

Just feels a bit more trashy and pretty much everyone I know who spends the whole summer in town peaces out around first/second week Aug. Not as fun when it doesn't have the alcoholic adult summer camp vibe of everyone knowing everyone. Consequences of EUROPOORS all having their Aug vaca same time.

Spread all over, I normally go to Greece and pick small islands to detox on, some people go to Italy. Next Aug I think I will ski New Zealand then go to French Polynesia to dive and sail and convalesce at nice hotels. This year i'm going to Corsica then have to fly home for a wedding that derailed my late summer plan.

your plans for next year sound 180. I don't understand the appeal of the Greek Islands in August. Did it last year with some 'friends'. Too hot. Too many Brits. Too much sand. TBF- I am a mountain over beach guy any day

There are like 200 inhabited islands in Greece so it's foolish to make a blanket statement. I generally pick extremely small islands with few people and def not a lot of brits. Usually if an island is mostly greek with a sprinkling of French tourists you know you've chosen well. They often have extremely pretty beaches, nice topography and chill family run tavernas. Just swim and lie on the beach all day, have a nice meal around sunset and go to bed. It's a welcome change after SoF insanity.

From here through next summer the tentative plans are ELECTRIC.

I mean you can still THINGDO on those islands in that there's usually a few different towns and tourists things to check out and many of the nicest beaches aren't accessible by car and require a hike.

I used to be a fairly troublesome alcoholic in my 20s and 30s.

I can still climb into my cups, but only do so if it is an obligation for someone else, e.g. a friend needs a drinking partner to get through some issue, or a wedding, etc.

I cannot imagine regularly, nightly getting wrecked at my age, of my own volition. Maybe I have poor genetics and you have good genetics, but three nights straight raging and the aftermath of pain and toxicity would be so overwhelming that the pain to pleasure ratio would be 10000:1.

From a purely hedonistic pov, routine inebriation would rank alongside taking a hammer to my forehead

The key IMO is every morning you wake up (by morning I mean ~1pm) and go directly to the gym to sweat the booze out. From there you tan and swim if possible, otherwise directly into the shower. This gets the VAST majority of the pain out. This only starts to become a problem on say day 3 or 4 in a row and only if you've been having marathon lunch to late evening/early morning sessions. Just getting after it during the day and turning in around 12/1am, usually no problem the next day. I do hear about other aged people being ruined after like 3 drinks, but I bounce back quick.

Should I:

1. YOLO it with rando this weekend (story below)

2. Stick with bros and look for new broads this weekend

3. Let a girl who has been asking to come join for weekend

Story on #1, was making HEAVY eye contact with this broad at Byblos pool bar Fri, then her group got up and left, never approached her. One of her MALE friends came over after they'd left and said she asked him to get my contact details. Gave them to him, figured she'd never hit me up but she txt'd me last night and wants to hang out.

Interesting thread. I didn't recall that you left at the beginning of August. That's the beginning of peak Euro summer break, when a huge portion of the population is off work for weeks in a row. If anything, shouldn't that make St. T. more expensive and exclusive, as there is higher demand those weeks for the same amount of space?

Does most of your friends clearing out before the month that Euro workers are off mean most of the people you're hanging out with during your stay don't work, or don't work "regular" jobs that they need to show up for 46+ weeks per year?

It's the peak time for EUROPOOR wagecuck vaca, which is not a desirable crowd to be around. Peak demand time is from Mid-July when Isabelle Festival happens to end of July here and it is priced as such. Very few of these people work "regular" jobs in the having a boss and needing to go to an office everyday sense, although a buddy who was here last week is a BIGLOL partner.

Please evaluate my WAGECUCK SLAVE AMERIPOOR Summer Vacation Schedule:

3 Jul. 2026 - Backyard Pool Party at Friend's House

4 Jul. 2026 - Fourth of July Celebration with Family at wife's Aunt's House

1 Aug. 2026 - Trip to Oma's House (prepared a steak dinner with grilled ribeye out on her Weber kettle, sauteed mushrooms on the stove, grilled jalepeno, and a caprese salad. There was a thoroughly decanted Barolo DOCG with the dinner transitioning to a Moscato DOCG after the meal). Homemade of course. I did everything in her little unused kitchen.

The rest of the time was spent at home, working, watching kids, doing laundry, cooking meals, managing household finances, playing catan with my oldest son, mowing the lawn, etc.

Okay, but other than that pretty 180, no? I took my kids off-trail bushwhacking alongside a river one weekend too, but I left that out because they all ended up crying. That was good exercise as I had to do some carrying and hand holding.
