What matters is they win the office. Once in Dr Jill and his close aids can keep running the country or he can step down and have Kamala do it. Why would the NYT care? They should only care about winning the office and the rest is immaterial. Biden is the only chance at Dems winning at this stage.
An open convention would be a complete disaster. No one worth their salt would step for at the last minute and ruin their reputation when they can just wait four years. And doing anything anti democratic runs the risk of backlash, eg Kamala never polling better than 1% in the Dem primary. You can't just nominate her and expect people to be happy. Her best path to the White House is Biden reelection and he either dies or resigns.
This leaves me with two possible conclusions. Either 1. The libs in the media really are the hyperventilating hysterical freaks we thought they were and they really are all panicking way too much as opposed to settling down and figuring out how to spin it, OR there is some kind of internal coup d'etat within the party itself and someone or some group is seizing the moment to oust him. |
