Instead of a PCP an HMO should assign you a medical caseworker who has a bachelor's degree and a certificate, and she, depending on your complaint, might schedule you an appointment with a dentist, an optometrist, a dietician, a personal trainer, a licensed therapist, or a chiropractor. The only way you see an MD is if you're bleeding out of the stump where your arm used to be or you have a golf ball growing out of the side of your head. That would do wonders to control health insurance costs.
