They thought it’d be a fraud to play the bowl game with 1/3 of the roster missing and have that game go on the record. I ALWAYS SAID that paying players would ruin the sport, that they were coddled and got "enough" perks at the big programs, and I assumed there was backhanded payments to these players too. Even on xo there were lots of people like "but the players deserve to be paid."
