Title: "Dinner on the RMS AutoAdmit: A Titanic Parody, Part II"
Scene: The grand dining room of the RMS AutoAdmit, faithfully reconstructed in all its early 20th-century opulence, with gleaming chandeliers and immaculate place settings. The poasters, dressed in their best virtual attire, gather around a lavish table, their expressions a mix of curiosity, skepticism, and barely concealed amusement.
Characters:
Mainlining as Cal Hockley (Billy Zane): Dominant, calculating, and convinced of his control over the situation.
Boom as Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio): The unpredictable, slightly unhinged spirit, whose very presence seems to challenge the norms of first-class decorum.
Evan39 as Ruth DeWitt Bukater: The prissy, high-society lady, judging everything below her station with a skeptical eye.
Disco Fries as Rose (Kate Winslet): Caught between societal expectations and her fascination with the unexpected and chaotic.
Other XO Poasters fill the roles of various other passengers, adding their own unique flavors to this doomed dinner party.
Act 1: The Dinner Party
The room is abuzz with polite conversation, underpinned by a tension that grows sharper with every passing moment. At the center of the table, Mainlining, seated with an air of aristocratic confidence, addresses his unlikely guest, Boom. Boom is disheveled but carries a certain irrepressible charm, like a rogue element invited into the heart of order.
Evan39 (as Ruth): Tell us of the accommodations in steerage, Mr. Boom. I hear they’re quite good on the ship.
Boom (as Jack): The best I’ve seen, ma’am. Hardly any rats.
The table bursts into a fit of laughter, the absurdity of Boom’s statement cutting through the tension like a knife through butter.
Mainlining (as Cal): Mr. Boom is joining us from the Third Class. He was of some assistance to my… well, to Disco Fries here last night.
Disco Fries blushes slightly, her eyes flicking to Boom with a mixture of intrigue and defiance.
Disco Fries (as Rose): It turns out that Mr. Boom is quite a fine artist. He was kind enough to show me some of his… creative work today.
Mainlining (as Cal): Disco Fries and I differ somewhat in our opinion of fine art…
He turns to Boom, his smile tight and insincere.
Mainlining (to Boom): Not to impugn your work, sir.
Boom merely grins, clearly enjoying the game. He looks down at the array of silverware before him, confused by the sheer number of utensils.
Boom (as Jack): Are these all for me?
Secret Knowledge (as Molly Brown): Just start from the outside and work your way in.
Boom nods, shrugging off the strangeness of it all.
*Evan39 (as Ruth), her eyes narrowing slightly, presses on with her interrogation:
Evan39 (as Ruth): And where exactly do you live, Mr. Boom?
Boom (as Jack): Well, right now, my address is the RMS AutoAdmit, after that, I'm on God's good humor.
Evan39 purses her lips, clearly unimpressed.
Evan39 (as Ruth): And how is it you have the means to travel?
Boom, his grin widening, seems to relish every bit of this exchange.
Boom (as Jack): I work my way from place to place, you know, tramp steamers and such, but I won my ticket on AutoAdmit here in a lucky hand of poker, a very lucky hand.
NeumannMorgenste (as Col. Archibald Gracie): All life is a game of luck.
Mainlining (as Cal), smirking, retorts: A real man makes his own luck, Archie. Right, Boom?
Boom (as Jack): Mm-hmm.
Evan39’s disapproval grows more evident, her lips pursed tightly as she prepares to deliver another pointed question.
Evan39 (as Ruth): And you find that sort of rootless existence appealing, do you?
Boom (as Jack), undeterred, responds with a flourish:
Boom (as Jack): Well, yes, ma'am, I do. I mean, I've got everything I need right here with me. I've got air in my lungs and a few blank sheets of paper. I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what's going to happen or...
Boom takes a leisurely bite of bread, savoring the moment.
Boom (as Jack): ... Who I'm gonna meet, where I'm gonna wind up. Just the other night, I was sleeping under a bridge and now, here I am on the grandest bort in the world having champagne with you fine people.
He waves over the waiter, a fellow poaster, perhaps Spaceporn in disguise, with a cheeky grin.
Boom (as Jack): I'll take some more of that.
The waiter refills his glass. Boom lifts it in a toast, his eyes glinting with mischief.
Boom (as Jack): I figured life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You never know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you.
Mainlining, poised with a cigarette, reaches into his pocket for a lighter, but before he can strike a match, Boom tosses his own lighter across the table.
Boom (as Jack): Here you go, Mainlining.
Mainlining catches it deftly, his expression a mix of irritation and reluctant admiration.
Boom (as Jack, lifting his glass once more): To make each day count.
Secret Knowledge (as Molly Brown): Well said, Boom.
NeumannMorgenste (as Col. Archibald Gracie): Hear, hear.
Disco Fries (as Rose): [Raising her glass for a toast] To making it count.
The table joins in the toast, their glasses clinking, each poaster briefly united in this strange, surreal moment of camaraderie.
And so, in the grand digital dining room of RMS AutoAdmit, amidst avatars and aliases, there is a shared recognition that life, even in this bizarre digital world, is unpredictable, fleeting, and worth celebrating—even as they all sail unknowingly toward the unseen iceberg that awaits in the dark sea of the internet beyond.
