When Iran made the oil companies state-owned it was too late. By that time we had decided that's communism. Saudi has also repeatedly forged partnerships with other American companies. Behind the scenes someone will start demanding all of the money and kick the US partner company out of the country for not giving it to them. It's all just swept under the rug. The House of Saud keeps a lot of dogs on a leash whereas a democratic regime would let this spin out of control. |
