i'm coming around on this odor. it smells like a mix of decaying hay tossed with cedar shavings and then left out in a field during a heavy rain before being turned over with a shovel. fertility and the kind of light fresh rot and sloughing that accompanies future growth.
the psycho-history of patchouli (and its wrongful condemnation as a residue of hippies/druggies) is something we should explore further.
