She was also basically a sex addict and we would fuck 4+ times a day. Unfortunately she was also an alcoholic and that got old.

Yes I did see that, I've followed your trajectory closely since you're the only other person out there I've seen with similar tendencies to fully self destruct lol.

Fortunately I never developed a debilitating cocaine addiction. However I did more or less "check out" from my firm for a period of like 6 months where I "worked" remote and split my time with the alcoholic sex addict at various airbnb's and her place in LA. Worse still I was vascillating b/t stable boring wife and alcoholic sex addict so there were periods of 2-3 days where I'd go back to my wife to try to "work it out" before going back to the sex addict who I "loved".

My firm nearly imploded but I was able to keep it together. Wife took me back immediately but said if I did it again she'd be out for good. She also helped me get firm back on track.

However, I'm 2 years out from that and strongly considering divorce.

if things are really bad with your wife, i suggest you try to work on shit. tell her you aren't happy and give therapy a shot. if it doesn't work, then leave. life is too short. i lucked out that my wife shaped her shit up immediately when i said something. i expected her to say "nah, sorry i just don't like sex anymore" but she's more into it now than she has been in the last 10 years. i was gonna leave otherwise tho.

We were in couples therapy for a year and couples therapist gave up because of her reactivity. I honestly have a better handle on her then he did. Basically couples therapy increased marital difficulties rather than help.

I'm in individual therapy which has been helpful in recognizing certain patterns like self destructiveness as well as things in the relationship like co-dependency.

But zero desire to see a sex therapist because even if wife wanted more sex I wouldn't be into it. It's either accept stale 2 min silent missionary with a refrigerator body where I have to pull out or divorce.
