fs as someone who disagrees with them. For example, how would they both describe a transwoman? They're adult, human, and with few exceptions, have XY chromosomes. They'd also agree that for the most part they present themselves as a woman, want to be treated like a woman, etc. The main difference is whether they actually are women, which is just a disagreement over definition or semantics. Because of this disagreement, they might call you a bigot or transphobe, while refusing to provide you with what the definition should be. Some might say anyone who identifies as a woman is a woman. But this doesn't really satisfy most trans people because, even if accepted, a factual answer to the question, "is a transwoman a woman?" would be "yes they identify as a woman but are not biologically female." They would take this as an insult because they don't want to be considered a separate category from biological females.
To summarize, you can share the same objective views as a trans advocate, but even if you agree to change your definition of "man" or "woman," they won't be satisfied if you refuse to ignore the distinctions between trans and biological women.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
