Just group colleges into conferences geographically and that's their regular season with some playoff at the end. Maybe have one big top-level national conference that you could get promoted into / relegated from, and the top 2 or 4 in that one go to national playoff games. The tradition in college sports is independence. All sorts of schools used to be independent. More schools should go back to it and get away from fraud conferences.
