6 PORTLAND, Ore. – For the past year, inside a Portland-area gym, a friendship developed between an NBA superstar and a local entrepreneur. Three or four times a week, the paths of Damian Lillard and Sheel Tyle would cross. As one would be finishing a workout, the other would be arriving. Eventually, casual conversation developed. Tyle — the founder of Collective Global, a venture capital firm — already knew Lillard as the Portland Trail Blazers’ all-time leading scorer. Lillard soon got to know Tyle as a sharp, inquisitive guy who never fan-boyed or pushed his way into conversations.
