Important to note short-term could be 3+ years, which probably isn't a good idea for an emergency fund. 401k has been down 2-8% starting 3 years ago and still has not brought me back to where it started. Finally, getting to a -2.66% return rate annualized with a -5.25% cumulative over the last three years. Entered in at the height of the market.
