Looks like she was making half as much a couple years ago.
Her husband's title is "managing partner" which probably means he started a small business, so he could have been making very little before.
She also had student loans which they paid off. |

Looking on Streeteasy for total monthly payment on a $1.5 mm Brooklyn apartment, and its almost $9,000. So that's $102,000 - and your alarm bells should already be going off (i'm guessing they probably have a slightly better rate).
Then consider you're looking at $50kish for daycare/school for each kid.
It's almost a miracle they have as much saved as much as they do.

Student loans are like $350k now between them. They paid them off. That's a big amount that would otherwise be sitting in a brokerage account for a boomer.
Rather than doing brokerage account they put the money into an NYC town home worth 1.5 mil. That's not like an obviously bad financial decision. You need somewhere to live. Theyre in a popular area. It's not 1.5 mil mcmansion in the columbus ohio exurbs.
They have enough in their retirement accounts. who cares about that. |
