I stopped lifting heavy and do a lot more core shit and jumping and shit. Still do things like clean and ejrks because they are fun but nothing heavy overall (eg cj is 145, I don’t squat or bench heavy anymore). But do hit weights a few times a week and do bench, presses, curls, weighted pull-ups etc
I’m debating whether to just drop lifting entirely and drop some muscle mass to be leaner and more flexible as age ++
Tho ugh hts

Everything is focused on mobility, hips, shoulders, groin, hammies, glutes and core strength, all bodyweight stuff you can do anywhere. Lots of good routines on youtube and some of them are women in skimpy clothes
Not over 40 though

why tf would you drop lifting
you need to maintain muscle mass as you age if you want to remain active

one day a week I do Supersets of some permutation of pullups, pushups, and dumbbell curls. If I do supersets of pullups and pushups, the curls get tacked on at the end.
dead hangs, low planks, bird dogs, and cobra for back health.
I stopped benching, pressing, squatting and deadlifting because of recurring injuries. Haven't had an exercise related injury in over ten years but blew my back every 90 days in my 20s and 30s when I lifted weights.
run two to three days a week.
Try to average over 10k steps a day .

No, bodyweight exercises are enuf to maintain above average strength and physique. Lifting was damaging my joints.
Increasing single set max reps for pullups is very satisfying.

Peter Attia would say the key to exercise in your 40s is to plan how you want to live your life in your last decade.
So that means strength and mobility 2-3x per week (with a strong emphasis on mobility), a yoga class, Z2 cardio and recreational sports.

I do endurance sports, so I do 6-10 hours of cardio per week, mostly Z2. My strength is squats, rows, deadlifts, dumbbell bench, pull ups, dips, farmers carry, and few similar compound type lifts, never more than body weight (which I can’t even do for all but squat and deadlift). For mobility I do plyometrics and lot of shit that looks very gay (glute bridges, calf lifts, lunges, cat/cows, Cossack squat, the kind of things chicks do on yoga mats). I also do yoga at least once a week, and love doing it now that I know how.
Have started messing around with calisthenics, but that shit is hard so I’m still getting used to it.

Now that im over 40, i am determined to park farther away from the grocery and mall entrance, and do at least one push up after lunch. Speaking of, no more double stack burgers from fast food, and hold the cheese...please.

in 40s and get complimented on my physique quite a bit.
I do:
- lift twice a week, about an hour session each time
- hot yoga class 3x a week (including one bastardly hard class), 1 hour each
- Versaclimber 3x a week, usually 3000 feet as fast as I can (16 minutes or so?)
- try to do something active on Saturdays, hike etc.

I only do the second run about 40% of weeks. The other 4 days, I do most weeks.
I'd like to get another lifting day, but between limited days in the office (where I use the gym), limited time, and recovery days, I generally only lift twice a week.

I do this 1-2x a week in my family room just using the floor and 2 dumbbells. Takes like 20 mins:
Goblet Squat: 2 sets × 8 reps
Romanian Deadlift: 2 sets × 8 reps
Bent-Over Dumbbell Row: 2 sets x 8 reps
Dumbbell Floor Press: 3 sets × 8 reps
Lying Triceps Extension: 2 sets × 8 reps
Hammer Curls: 2 sets × 8 reps
Forearm Plank: 2 sets × 30 seconds
On the weekends I spend about 3 hours / day doing lunges and stretching with foam rollers
