Depends if you’re talking single or married. $2.5 w/o a spouse contributing is fine.

Most normal posters who joined back in 2004-2010 (in their early 20s) retired by the time they were 28 - 32. Nobody stays here past 35 unless they're full blown losers. Being old and a loser is the worst possible life outcome and we have quite a few of those here.

Dude, most people dont really move far or if they do they come back. You have generational wealth in housing. In NYC its faggots literally inheriting grandmas house/apartment -- that's why shit is millions. It's locked in for generations. All those Hassidic landlords in Brooklyn -- that is shit they bought in the 1930s and 40s. It's going on 100 years in the same family. Same with Trump. The actual inventory on the market is less than 0.1% of the actual housing stock. That's why prices are obscene and why you need a massive death tax.

Totally stupid and subjective point that speaks more to inability to hit 10m than anything else. 1m is a valid goal, 10m is a valid goal. For some people 100k is a valid goal. No one gives a fuck that someone is 2.5m vs 1m.

Yes that's true. It's personally meaningful but it's not really socioeconomically meaningful. I feel like you need that order of magnitude to have any real separation--10k, 100k, 1m, 10m, at least. Maybe it starts to break down between 10m to 100m--probably a good faith argument that someone worth 50m is living a fairly different life than someone worth 10m, but even there, what does that really entail--an extra house on the Cape and more use of a fractional jet share? Magnitude separation probably still holds by and large.

How likely that a family with a 10M net worth is using a fractional jet share?

At 10m? Fairly likely a couple times per year? 10m net worth is going to bring in some very different types of people, from your small business owner who has done well for 40 years and is getting ready to retire to your 50-year-old bsd law firm partner to your 30-something small hedge fund principal etc. It would probably be more informative in answering that question to look at both net worth and annual income because I think the latter is going to drive the jet share question more at that level of wealth.

At 100m? I'd guess the majority regardless of annual income level.

There would be a ton of variability in available liquidity for folks with $10m NW.

Yep I agree. It's going to be a pretty heterogeneous group from a personal finance perspective. Some retiree with $10m in Vanguard funds isn't going to be flying around to the Caribbean in a Gulfstream. But the 34 year-old hedge fund dude who's making $2m per year may be.
