I'm learning Italian and it's hard as fuck. No, speaking Spanish won't help

I took the placement test knowing 100% Spanish and still had to go to the beginner level.
It's a language that cares a lot about the beauty of sound, so a lot of rules are made for the "musical sounds".
For example, in Spanish 'el agua', turns in Italian into 'l'aqua' (the water), 'el amigo' turns into 'l'amico'. It's a big struggle with a ton of nonsense rules.

The easiest is Spanish. This is ChatGPT take on it:
Spanish: Often considered the easiest due to its relatively simple grammar and pronunciation.
French: Shares a lot of vocabulary with English, though pronunciation can be tricky.
Portuguese: Similar to Spanish in many respects, with some differences in pronunciation and vocabulary.
Italian: Grammar and vocabulary are similar to Spanish and French, making it relatively easy for English speakers.
Dutch: Grammatically more similar to English, but with some differences that can present challenges.
German: Has more complex grammar (e.g., cases) but shares many vocabulary roots with English.
By 'difficult' I probably mean I thought knowing Spanish would make it a breeze. But you do have to put a lot of effort into it and the verb conjugation is changes a shitload whereas in Spanish it's simple as fuck.
