One missed forehand can cost a tennis player that much money in a final set tiebreak in the late round of the slams

i see ur point. prob a function of 1) golf being one of the few individual sports with insane prize money, and 2) golf being a rare sport where guys who cant win the title are competing for every single place from first to last at the same time as the title competition is going on

yeah that adds tons of stress. every shot matters even if you dont have a chance of winning. in tennis, once you lose you go home. imagine in tennis if there was a back draw where the losers in the same round all kept playing each other for position - for money and ranking points, instead of everyone who loses in the same round getting the same. it'd be insanely stressful.

fyi, as a matter of law, no tennis match can possibly come down to one made/missed shot. you have to win by 2 points to win a game, and you have to win by 2 games to win a set, and even in a tiebreak you have to win by 2 points. by definition there's no way a tennis match can be decided by a point on which either player can win on that same point, i.e., a "double match point"
