A LOT of contemporary rock musicians are really woke now. Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Jack White. These people all have meltdowns about TDS all the time. I remember so many interviews with Thom Yorke where he would rag on capitalism and how corporations control the media (dude flies a private jet).
I was at a random rock show and the main guy started ranting about racism for no reason. He just made a big speech about it in the middle. It's really sad.
I think one of the saddest cases is St. Vincent who says shit like the cock rock era was really bad and you're an asshole if you like guitar solos. Idk. It's just really pathetic. All of these musicians are talented and wealthy but still suck as people.
Then there are a bunch of right wing bands and they just get canceled. If you bring up Ariel Pink, a literal Jew from Beverly Hills who sold like a grand total of 500 records in his career is considered toxic because he attended the speech portion of Jan 6 and went on Tucker to talk about it. The arts scene is ruthless if you don't conform everyone will come out against you. I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift owns a huge chunk of Live Nation and has been rumored to bump people off their tour dates for petty reasons. Imagine being some kind of 1488 musician Taylor could easily just say whoops the terms and conditions say we can cancel you any time. It's pretty nuts. And the banjo player from Mumford and Sons had to quit the band when he had a conservative awakening lol.
It's so horrible out there honestly, it's no wonder everything sucks and there isn't an edgy Fred Durst type out there. It's all Haley Williams, St Vincent, KP and Taylor only things that are allowed to go on in the mainstream that isn't techno or rap. Just liberal women everywhere all the time. Pure shit culture. |
