Jeff Bridges was clearly the protagonist. Tron is just this Mary Sue "sentient" program with no real arc that JB meets along the way on his own Alice in Wonderland-esque journey to redemption.

You don't have to name a movie after a character, but if you do then it should be the main character. In some cases, it can be another character that is the primary concern of the main character.

The Godfather would have been a lot better if they had called it Michael Corleone

I would liked if they called it Michael Corleona, Michael Corleonee.

This is an annoying trend fueled by MCU movies and even Star Wars now, too

oh god forbid there's not an "arc"! what would we ever do without characters "changing" in ways which are totally incongruous with real humanity

Arc or no arc, that character wasn’t the main character. He was just the one with the cool name.

"arc" along with the dogmatic adherence to three act structure has ruined screen writing.

I won’t debate that, but if one protagonist does have a major arc and another doesn’t, then the former is probably the main character

It’s especially absurd in Trojan Legacy. The character is irrelevant and doesn’t even go by the name Tron for most of the film.
