I think this is a root cause of a lot of the recent strife, for instance as discussed in dr. joseph smith's recent attn.-whoring "retirement" thread. When I started reading xo the vast majority of posters were law students, 0Ls, or very junior associates. It was a group that had a lot in common, and everyone's experiences were more or less similar - xo's aspie laserlike focus on the fine distinctions between V30 and V50 or USC/UCLA/Vandy is actually evidence of how similar those places really are, not how different.
Years later and it's much more varied. a few people stayed on the same path and are biglaw nonequity partners, but others are now "of counsel," or in house, or solo, or left law completely. (Back in 08 even the non-law posters were at least *interested* in law school, which is why they were here, that's not even true anymore). we even still have some law students here (lmao). Our day to day experiences are moving further and further apart, and that's reflected in the poasting.
