1) Stanford is better than Harvard in STEM programs/opportunities, and in the future, the quality of a university's STEM programs will be the primary determinant of its overall prestige.
2) Stanford is better connected with, and better respected within, Silicon Valley tech circles. Silicon Valley is the future of the American economy.
3) Stanford has done a better job connecting with the East Asian community, to the point that it is sometimes spoken of as the first true American-Asian Pacific university. East Asia is the future of the world economy, so Stanford's status as the most sought-after university for many Chinese and other east Asians will be a huge advantage.
4) Stanford is ahead of Harvard in the online education game, which is probably the future of higher education broadly. |

Date: May 16th, 2012 5:16 PM Author: White Selfie Skinny Woman Stanford is the only school that is top 5 in EVERY field, something not even Harvard can lay a claim to. its weakest school or department is probably the med school, which is still top 8 or so. and it's the most well-rounded school, with awesome academics, sports, and campus.
Stanford is the heart of silicon valley and the startup culture. this is where American wealth and power are now shifting to. east coast finance has been discredited.
