They also refuse to hire supervisors externally, so you would have to be a cashier, stock shelves, or collect carts from the parking lot until another position opens up. My checker was morbidly obese and bending over and squatting to ring up my crap at the bottom of the cart. I felt so bad for him. Actually it made me kind of hate Costco’s for putting him through the indignity of it all. But I suppose a job is a job. In 5 years no stores anywhere will have checkers anymore because it’s pointless and the job can be replaced. Stores will just have back of house workers and maybe a security detail and floating helpers if you don’t have a credit card.
