Twitter has never been profitable dude. I think it barely made money like one or two years a long time ago. It lost money before Elon bought it. It will always lose money. It’s not a for-profit enterprise in and of itself - it’s a public influence and data gathering operation. That’s what it was before Elon bought it, that’s what it is now that he runs it, that’s what it will always be. He has a vision to integrate it into a larger more comprehensive Matrix ecosystem but I doubt that will be a success and it will probably just continue to be a vehicle to wield influence, sway public opinion, and Hoover up data

its just that (1) twitter remains a censored hellhole stocked with FBI/CIA agents and there's nothing close to real free speech there, (2) musk brought in a lot of outside investors who DID think they would make money with this operation (so he either lied to them or fucked this up), and (3) the current estimated value of twitter is 1/3 of what he paid for it, making him look stupid -- plus he's quite illiquid so the carrying costs must be quite high for him personally, which increases his vulnerability to outside pressures like the ADL
