Aside from their huge losses in Ukraine, they've lost their gas markets in Europe permanently and China shows no inclination whatsoever to help them build the Siberian 2 pipeline. Moreover, both China and India no doubt will continue to demand sweetheart deals on the oil and gas they do buy, and Russia will have no choice but to give it to them. These sweetheart deals are for all intents and purposes sanctions with a smile.
And they are losing huge market share on their arms exports, another pillar of their economy.
And oh yeah- Europe has seized 200 billion dollars of their money and is about to lock it down to use it as collateral for loans to Ukraine. Which means Russia will never see that money again at least for a decade or so, assuming Europe doesn't decide to seize it outright. |
