The leaders of all the parties who will (or might be) represented in the next Bundestag appear on the same program and answer questions. Gives a feeling of national unity even though the election results have just come in and feelings are raw. |

2. Merz admits he would have wanted to only have to make a coalition with one party but that the voters have decided otherwise so it will be a three party coalition. He reaffirmed no coalition with the AfD so that means SPD and Greens. |

CSU leader Marcus Söder clarifies one of the big questions - he has long said no coalition with the Greens, but now faced with the reality of the election results he says a government without the Greens would be a better government but that Merz is the chancellor candidate so he doesn't want to presume to tell him what to do. Basically admitting that there's no other option to a coalition with the Greens. |
