I read some books recently. they did give me some ideas for threads, none of which I executed on because I've been busy with IRL

oh well

just do read only book reviews so you can seem to have read the books and are able to converse on them intelligently.

i never understood people who do shit like this. it's like the essence of superficial striverdom

it is its own reward for the work that it forces our brains to put in, and exercise is good, but reading is time consuming while life if so full of choices and splendid opportunities.

i concede that there are many wonderful things to do in life. this doesn't make it any less pathetically striverish and fraudulent to read book reviews to try and impress people.

wrong. i read one way, that's closely. my intake is not tremendous, not even close in fact. but i was reading coetzee'd Youth recently when I came upon a line that went nearly, "So and so (a character) was the sort (of frenzied striver) who read book reviews only so as to save time. . ."

Yadda yadda. You get the picture. Anyways, the line stuck with me and it would appear you and I are together with respect to outlining what can be called striverish behavior.
