It's all the patagonia dads at the brewery could talk about when it was first announced. You could probably fit like 18 siberian huskies in it.

And it’s going to be priced remarkably close to the new Land Cruiser. I sincerely dread all of the conversations I’m going to have to listen to where “outdoorsy” dads are trying to justify why they got one over the other.

Cr. There is a hybrid option, but it looks like it's paired with the 2.4L turbo 4,

4Runner’s i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain is available on TRD Off-Road and Limited, while standard on the TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Platinum models. This powertrain pairs the turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with a 48-hp electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission, feeding off a 1.87-kWh NiMH battery pack that creates a total system output of up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, the most powerful powertrain ever offered on 4Runner.

GC is going to ruin the 4Runner like everything else. Buy a 2024 TRD Pro and store it a garage for a couple of decades. It’s going to be an icon.

why? new tacoma is pretty nice, albeit expensive. Huge improvement over the old Tacoma which rode like shit. New Tundra is a clusterfuck though. Exploding engines, trim piece falling off, loud as fuck, $75K garbage.

you said it yourself. the new engines were made for fuel efficiency, not performance and durability. the last v6s are going to be highly sought after.

the toyota 4cyl turbo has been around for a little while. seems reliable. And Toyota has a long history of solid turbo 4s going back decades. I agree the new 3.4T is SPS. Hot garbage.

it's reliable driving around cities. is it going to work as well when hauling a trailer 10 hours, or driving up a mountain? i doubt it. again, this is all being driven by gas efficiency standards, nothing else. that's not why people buy 4runners.

Because what you want in a car like that is actually simplicity and reliability, not a computer on wheels. There’s a whole new genre of off road pretenders that are piece of shit cars and Toyota is pandering to that market. All that’s left now is 4Runners and Wranglers and 4Runners are better cars by far.

yeah this too. the 5th gens aren't really any different than the versions from 15 years ago. they are barebones w/r/t tech. the 6ths are going to have ipads and digital dashboards and all that other bullshit modern cars all have. great for brewery dads, but mountain dads hate that shit.

Saw a 2018 Land Cruiser with around 30k miles for $65k the other day... would you cop this new 4Runner or the LC? Assume family of 4 in the suburbs.
