I always associate Diving Bell and the Butterfly in my daydreams with another heartfelt and unpretentious art film classic, The Fall (circa 2006, and directed by a gorgeous Indian man as fate would have it, who has a very playful approach to the American understanding of the word “Indian” in one of the supporting characters), because they came out around the same time and I saw both with family, and both more than once - gorgeous formative memories 🥰🥰🥰:
