to me, "Chicago" was always some far off city in the upper midwest, requiring a flight to get there.
Nashville is the same distance from the closest major beach as it is to Chicago, I believe about 7 hours each direction

yeah i've done similar drives. i think i started in eastern arkansas one morning and did a tour of some civil war stuff around corinth (mississippi) after passing through memphis (ghastly place), then swung north and ended up in ohio way sooner than expected.
