They did this all over. It’s not white people did all of the deforestation. To this day the U.S. Forest Service maintains several “balds” in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee because the Indians used to burn the mountain forests to the bare earth and it’s like a cultural thing now. Very strange. |
