Just click whatever at restaurants, 0 at counter services, $1 at coffee shops, and a $20 here or there per person for various services like moving, etc. I don't use valet or bellhop or other things like that.

In Europe I tipped some hellosir waiter on a boat 5 euros and it was like a lifechanging experience for him, yet here in the US they provide shitty service and get butthurt if you don't pay 30% of the check to them for standing around and showing off their tats and nose rings and fat bodies to you

18% in restaurants - can only go down from there. No one tries anymore, especially in NYC. Take out $0, delivery (post-NY law requiring minimum wage for delivery drivers/bikers) $0, Uber $0 and varies for barista, if they’re nice $1 but usually $0.

20% in restaurants if service good, 15% if mediocre. 25% if I am a regular and know the server. 20% for transport - 25% if they go above and beyond. 0-10% for pick up service depending upon the situation. Hardly ever get food delivered. Give the mailman and garbage man cash at Christmas.

You’re either a kike or a gook, this is unreal. If you don’t live in a city full of homeless derelicts, niggers, and other unsavory minorities, you easily leave it on your can on the curb. You know your neighbors and you live rural or semi rural so there’s no theft issue.

20-25% in restaurants.

10% for take out.

10% for Uber and food delivery, but I always make sure food delivery gets at least $10 if the order is less than $100 and Uber driver always gets at least $5.

$300 for the cleaning lady for Xmas.

$50 for the mailman for Xmas.

$25 for the garbage man for Xmas.

$25 for the recycling guy for Xmas.

When I lived in the city $500 for the doorman.

For pick up orders I try to do like $1-$5. I'll throw $1 on an iPad order at a casual restaurant or food truck.

But fuck how these places now devote to 20, 25, or 30%. I'll either hit other and give them a dollar or i've started just saying no.

Since when did a worker at Chipotle think they should get the same tip as a waiter?

I tip a lot. Like almost goodfellas level. 50% plus on drinks/meals (I always sit at the bar). $20 for valets (to leave my truck where I want). My tab is always high too. I go to the same half a dozen or so places.

I walk in on a Friday or Saturday night, the owner, GM, and bartenders all say hi and if there are no seats, I get the next one regardless of who is waiting. I normally go out on slower nights, but sometimes I go out on weekends or at happy hour so this is a key benefit. Bartenders text me if I don’t show up for a while to make sure I am alive, and if I know my girl and I are coming in, I just text and there are my preferred seats with a reserved sign. None of the places I go run out of my favorite booze. I get a big glass full to the rim, a lot of times I get comped drinks. I never have to order, I just sit down and my drink and a Diet Coke appear exactly how I want them. Kitchen never fucks up my meal, chef will pull the best steak for me and it 98% of the time comes out perfect. I spend a lot of time outside on work calls and the staff always guard my seat for me. I have never asked for any of this stuff. I am just a regular who tips well and is nice to the staff so they do it.

I like the preferred service so it’s worth it for an extra $100 or whatever.

I hit the default is on consumer BS. But i have found the 25% tip button on five guys gets me a happier counter person and some extra fries.

$1 per coffee order at non-starbucks places

0% at any place that it's lol that they're asking for a tip

i'll generally go a bit higher if it's a truly local / independent business making an effort to serve a quality product.

ok, by counter service i mean when i order pick-up. the people that work that counter deserve a buck or two for prepping the bag. i know it's seemingly meaningless, but they've taken a big hit with carry out/delivery vs sit down, so i'm willing to give a token tip
