that shit had a budget of $28 million. that's got to be more than the average feature film budget for 1994. obviously it's a lot longer, but were networks like ABC able to make a profit off of this when more people tuned into tv movies and mini series?

I never understood how those miniseries worked. They mainly aired during sweeps, right? Why would advertisers agree to pay rates that were based an atypical programming? It's not like normal Monday night programming on ABC was a $28 million dollar miniseries.

i dunno. i was like 10 when this one came out i think, so i had no idea what sweeps was. they definitely promoted the hell out of them though.

i recall watching some of this one after having been forbidden to watch others when i was even younger, especially IT.

i remember the langoliers. that was like the most boring awful piece of shit ever.

i recall thinking all those tv adaptations were awesome when i got to watch them as a kid because i was reading every one of king's books. i saw some of the stand on the sci fi channel a few years ago and remember thinking it was very B-list from almost all the actors down to the way it was shot.

it's on netflix streaming though.

well yeah, but King always had a problem figuring out how to end stories, especially the epic ones. to be fair, it's a lot easier to create a fascinating and enigmatic story that's full of mystery than it is to resolve the mystery and conclude the story successfully. *ahem* LOST. *ahem*
