Why does someone in America (still arguably the best/wealthiest nation in 2012) with one of the best jobs as a 25 year old have to live FRUGALLY on 160k and give up a social life that even 3rd world countries can afford their citizens (such as clubbing in thailand or enjoying a mountain of a feast in china).

Biglaw associates struggle and eat ramen every night in order to scrape by on their salaries which are themselves eaten alive by high taxes, rent, and debt.

What about the rest of the country, nay, the rest of the world?! Living how they want, going clubbing, fucking girls their own age, eating how they want and all on around ~$15,000 USD a year but living a much better lifestyle.

You should always live below your means, no matter what your fuckin job, especially in a fucked up country like America where everyone blows money they don't have.

So pretend you only make 100k instead of 160k and live like that. You still can have an awesome life at 100k. Eating well does not mean 200 dollar meals, the best food I've ever had has been in hole in the wall restaurants.

You don't need to blow 10k for two weeks in Paris. Go to Peru or Indonesia and spend a quarter of that or less while still staying in top places.

The fact is ppl are fucking stupid with money in America. BIGLAW ppl are even more fucking stupid. It is sad and pathetic

Are you serious? You can party for cheap. Do water sports for cheap. Dive for much cheaper than elsewhere. Stay in nice hotels for $20-30 bucks. Eat cheaply. Go trekking.

lol you do realize that your peers in those other countries don't make anywhere NEAR $160K US. Costs are higher here and so are salaries.

thats the problem with this fucking country then isn't it? if the best and brightest live worse than their peers and coworks in 3rd world countries?

and the only way to get these high paying jobs is to put yourself in that position of CRUSHING debt?

really, doctors have it even worse.. they spend more time in school, it usually has higher tuition, then they make shit in residency, and unless u go into a specialized practice u dont make much more than a BIGLAW associate.. sounds even shittier

Those analogues in other countries usually have their parents/family or the government pay for their education. America is a bootstraps country, except healthcare, housing, and cheap imports for boomers. That we should have to pay for them.
