no more than 2500 . . .

you could find something more expensive, but if you're in biglaw, you're going to have time to show off your baller bachelor pad anyway

A little over $2K will get you a nice 1br. You can spend less if you take the time to really hunt for a deal or if you live in a dump.

I have just not found this to be true. Seems like in the Dupont/Logan/U Street area, $2300 gets you a cramped, outdated English basement.

I guess if you're looking at sept 1 move in date that might have a little bit to do with it. I'm looking at CL now though and there are plenty of places that look fine that would be ~2100.

In the Dupont area? Maybe we have different standards, I dunno. I am too old to rent a shitty place with 80s cabinets and a scuzzy tub.

Have you seen the prices at Flats at Dupont Circle? $2500 500 sq. ft. studios. Nuts.

renting in brand new buildings is kind of stupid. That area is filled with older buildings/townhouses, a lot of which are in good shape. In new buildings you'll pay a big premium just to have a modern lobby and crappy low end stainless/granite in the kitchen.

Just checked out that building... total ripoff and doesn't even look that nice. Archstones in general are mostly crap and have high opinions of themselves when it comes to prices.

Agreed. Archstone in Cleveland Park is in a really cool location, but the units have cabinets straight out of the 1980s and a 575 sq. ft. place costs $2200. Maybe in Dupont, but c'mon, CP?

Bro, do you feel like inventory is dwindling for mid-September/early October? I am planning to come out there at the end of August to nail something down, but I'm worried I need to come sooner.

nah, if you force the issue you can find a place quickly in DC. It's not like nyc in that regard. I wasn't local to the area and found my place in a very short timeframe when I moved here.

Do you use Padmapper? Much more convenient, but seems to leave off a lot of cl listings that don't have exact addresses.
