They’ve got nice beaches (Bald ahead Island, Nags Head), good mountains (Mt Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Fontana Dam), decent colleges in UNC (good luck getting in as a white man though) and NCSU.
Four seasons. Winters aren’t too harsh.
Seems like a great state to raise a family up in.

Brother I lived over in an area around Old Creedmoor and Norwood (not a joke) and the kids went to Leesville Road HS. It’s probably changed because this was more than 30 years ago.
There were lots of shady issues going on in an otherwise highly bucolic setting.
For one thing, everything was far away and there was really nothing to do except find ways to get into trouble.
It’s better to raise your kids in a neighborhood and have them do sports than out in the country and have them all hang out in the basement.
I myself, we moved away so I went to another high school, in a different state, but it was a big suburban hs. One of the largest in the United States.

It is overpopulated now and awful.

Keep in mind a lot of places outside of Raleigh are connected to Raleigh by 2 lane country roads that were built 70 years ago. Those towns are now 100x the population and are all trying to get to the same place.
To get a sense of what it is like head down 10-10 at around 5 pm to see what a 10 mile parking lot looks like. Or holly springs road at the same time. Ignore the “it’s not as bad as dc or ny crowd”. Imo it’s worse. I’ve lived in northern va and had to commute to dc daily. DC is nowhere as bad as trying to move down a road, with stop lights, stop signs and about 50k people all trying to funnel their way to one highway.
