Yep all the same. Major targets on 7-day and 3-day timers with +- various hour windows on either side.
More or less 3 guilds competing for all the biggest targets -- Castle, Good Guys, and Kingdom. Good Guys probably still considered the top guild and Kingdom seems to be falling out lately. Castle has climbed pretty close to GG and has a more casual attitude. Lots of drama among the king neckbeards. I really only log in for the major kills when they ping you on Discord.
It's like an uber efficient version of the original, since some of these guys have been playing for 20 years and know every single mechanic.
I power leveled CSLG a bit. If you get an account let me know and I'll hook you up. Slippinn Jimmy is my main.

It was a great pvp game and was hugely popular for a while but Sony fucked up bigly by releasing it when they did because it split the EQ base up. Half the based stayed on EQ1 and the other half went to EQ2.
What SOE did was gradually reduce the player base with every update by nerfing classes perceived as being OP pissing off everyone playing those nerfed classes causing them to rage quit the game, instead of increasing the power of other classes. I never understood that. I guess its easier to nerf something than increase everything else.
I don't know about EQ1 but in EQ2 they had a "fame" system for pvp resulting in pvp titles that appeared next to your name. You would need like ten kills to make up for one death so players like me would be very careful about picking our battles. I was known as a "fame whore." I had my ranger that would hide just outside of tracking range and wait for group pvp fights to engage each other, then I'd run in and kill them all. It was a lot of fun.
At one point I was running with five other players in a group of six. We had a tank, a warden (big heals), a mystic (big wards), I played a troubadour (buffs and an ability to escape our group in the middle of a fight that would teleport us to a random spot on the map), and two high DPS guys. We would take on raids by ourselves fighting them for hours in front of the Griffon Station in Antonica without a single death. Man, those were the days.

i found an exploit where if you used that npc pet monk in qeynos you could get the guards and monk guild to fight each other and get the exp/loot for the guard kills
leveled to 50 in a week and was banned circa 2001
