Reasons for asking boss to increase salary before starting?

Date: May 10th, 2012 10:51 PM Author: pea-brained wrinkle multi-billionaire Considering asking for $ for bar exam costs...I undersold myself by about $8-10K in salary discussions and can't get over it. I want to ask for higher salary before I start rather than any increase being based on merit-based bonuses, which aren't guaranteed, and the value being uncertain. Since I know nothing about the area of law I'm entering I'm not sure I'll impress anyway and get much. I'm basically really underpaid at this job and it's ruining my life just thinking about. I've thought of saying that I can't live at home for a bit so higher COL with paying rent as well, necessitates earning a bit more than minimum wage for MFH but I don't want to lie either since they'll see my mailing address hasn't changed. I'm not really sure what excuse I can use otherwise. |
