This dumptruck dumped a mountain of manure in the parking lot, and over the course of a month (it was that big) we worked in shifts to spread the manure around the rose bushes on the church property. The reason was because it doubled as a marching band. Everyone had to at least attempt to march and play an instrument, and they pushed us super hard. Half the instructors were military drill instructors who were active in the national guard, and even some of the scouts were in Civil Air Patrol and bossed us around and beat us up. We got invited to perform all over the country and in Canada a few times. If you had to explain why you were hanging out with someone you had a cover story. I don't know why this was the universal unspoken rule but we pulled it off pretty well at multiple schools.
It wasn't because we weird though, it was because we weren't supposed to be hanging out with people from some of these schools. Kids from these other schools had all kinds of weapons and shit. Ghetto kids but they were 180 musicians and funny as fuck |
