For a urm with a couple years of work experience

I'm guessing big law 1l and 2l shouldn't be TOO hard to acquire, so some of that would help with loans

Thoughts?

Any other options? Any money from Cornell, UVA, or Duke? Do you really want to be a lawyer?

Coming out of Penn, you'd have a very good chance of getting a biglaw job, but at sticker you'd be working years just to break even. Which is pointless if you don't want to be a lawyer. As a URM with work experience and enough brains to get into Penn, you should be able to do better in another field IMO

"As a URM with... enough brains to get into Penn..."

URMs get into HLS with 164s. What do you think it takes for a URM to get into Penn? 159?

One with WE too? 155?

You forgot the part where he has to last in Biglaw for 4+ years to pay off 300k of debt. (Maybe 275k if he can put his 1L/2L cash towards it)

I'd have to go get a master's at some point if I wanted any kind of meaningful promotion.

So one way or another I'm going to be going to graduate school. I actually want to be a lawyer, too. I'd rather do law school than master's in "x"

I wouldn't recommend it. Although pretty much all employment data I have seen indicates that Penn is significantly underrated. I would take Penn at sticker over overpriced NYC shitholes like NYC and Columbia for sure.
