This is complete and utter incompetence against an 11 shotgun formation. Is he going to have the weak side backer cover the slot one on one? Run a cover three and require backers to run to the flat? It's asinine

Mike Zimmer was playing hybrid safeties at linebacker in the 2000s, just one of many examples. Now every team in college football does this, it's just a matter of who they classify as a safety vs a linebacker, a safety on one team is just a linebacker on another and vice versa. The alignments are all over the place now.
Also the base 4-4 has always been a common defensive alignment at the high school level. It's simple. I think Walz lives deep in the closet btw. |
