everything can be had at BB. even the cheaper "BB" brand shoes are similarly priced to AE and of similar quality.

You're right man, the BB brand is like just under $400. Check under "Dress Calfskin."

Also, they're having a sale:

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatSectionView.process?IWAction=Load&Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=494

Just picked up myself a pair of Peal & Co penny loafers for 50% off at $244, which I guess are now sold out. But there are others if you can find your size.

Fair enough. The only thing decent in the clearance section is the monk strap, but I wouldn't get that as a first or second pair of dress shoes.

I think AE's are generally a better deal for someone who's building up a wardrobe. This is especially the case if you can get them on sale or snag some solid looking seconds from an outlet.

xoxo wisdom says: just wear a 2 button solid navy blue/charcoal single breasted suit with side vents with black leather shoes with wooden soles, black belt, white/light blue shirt, no cuffs on the pants, flat front or single pleated, a tie with muted colors with a conservative pattern. only button top button. wear socks that transition between the shoes and color of the suit. and get the tailoring done until it's right.

i know basically nothing about fashion and manage to objectively outdress over half the people in a room, even when their clothes are more expensive.

I think single pleat -> cuffs, but you should only go with pleats if you're chunky. Otherwise credited.

yeah, the whole double-breasted, doublepleats, cuffed thing just seems to call attention to the fat and make a round/blocky frame even blocker rather than hide it. i never understood that logic but you can't argue with tradition

suit pants should be cuffed, unless you're wearing a fashion-forward, very slim flat front pants.
