Went watch shopping with my brother in law at the Short Hills Mall yesterday.

We first looked at Breitling and Tag Heuer and IMO the omegas were all much nicer.
I went to the Cartier store and tried some stuff on. I think I have to buy a Cartier santos now. I can’t stop thinking about it. |

I’m also very new to buying watches. Is AD different than the Cartier storefront in the short hills mall? Would I have more luck haggling with them? |

Yes there is a difference, a Cartier boutique will not give you any discount, ever. If you find a watch dealer who is a Cartier authorized dealer they will often be willing to move the numbers a little to make a sale. There's also people who want a high end watch who don't necessarily want a Rolex because of the image the brand projects about the wearer.
For me, at that price point, I'd prob rather get a slightly used datejust. |

With Omegas you need to buy a METAS certified movement or a Speedmaster or one of the annual calendar watches for it to make sense or one of their all ceramic offerings because so few manufacturers can make ceramic cases given the $10 million machines you need to work with that stuff.
